Course Description

For the owners of privately held businesses, planning for a strategic exit is often a daunting task. Business owners often don't know where to start the process, how to value their business, or find ideal candidates to take over their businesses. Without market knowledge or background information, these uncertainties can be challenging for any business owner.

Attend this webinar to learn the steps to take a business to market and maximize return. This course will cover a high-level overview of the various steps to prepare for a profitable sale of a business, valuation techniques that can help guide decisions moving forward, and several key structural considerations to consider when entering into a deal with a prospective buyer. Our presenter will cover what a buyer, banker, and buyer’s advisor will look for when performing due diligence and the time it takes to move through the selling process, including financing, closing, and practical post-closing considerations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the time it takes to prepare a business to be sold

  • Evaluate general rules of thumb for valuing a business

  • Identify the due diligence materials needed prior to taking a business to market

  • List considerations from multiple party perspectives during due diligence and post-closing steps
